What
is 'Cranleigh to the Coast'?
This event started
in 2008 when three financial advisers from a local firm of Chartered
Financial Planners decided to walk from their offices in Cranleigh
to the coast at Shoreham-by-Sea in order to raise money for charity.
How far is the walk and how
long will it take?
The walk follows the footpaths and
bridleways of the Downs Link, with two short road detours.
Most of the trail follows former railway lines. The total
distance is 44.3km (27.5 miles) so you will need to be reasonably
fit to go the distance.
We completed the walk in 2008 in just over
nine hours, including a short stop for a picnic lunch at Southwater
Lake, so a time of between 8-11 hours is a reasonable estimate.
When does it
take place?
The next Cranleigh
to the Coast will take place on Saturday 7th March 2009,
starting at 9am from Sundial House in Cranleigh.
Who is
eligible to take part?
The walk is open to
existing clients and suppliers of Informed
Choice Ltd.
A maximum of 20 walkers will be able to take part
What is the
purpose of the walk?
Fun, fresh air and
charitable giving! The walk is primarily intended to raise money for
charity. Last year we raised over £500 for children's charity
Facing the World.
We will nominate a new charity for this walk
at the start of 2009 but you are welcome to raise sponsorship for
your own chosen charity if you prefer.
